Happy Birthday to long time Red, Eric Davis who was born on May 29th, 1962.
Has there ever been a player in baseball history who came into the league with more hype than Eric Davis? Even though he ended up having a terrific career, it would have been impossible to live up to the hype when he came to the majors.
He played in the majors from 1984--2001, playing with the Reds for the first seven years of his career.
Of his potential, Pete Rose said,
"He reminds me of Willie Mays except he has more speed."
